UPDATE 2/19: I published this yesterday, and overnight Alexander Doroshenko incorporated it and published Mobile Device Detector 3.2 with Sitecore 7.1 support. Now that's efficient.

The Mobile Device Detector is a commonly used module for doing server-side detection of devices, and serving a different Device layer accordingly.

It's based on the Sitecore Rules Engine, which underwent significant changes in Sitecore 7.1. Once you know the new structure, it's not difficult to update the Mobile Device Detector rules to work on 7.1. But if you'd like to save some time, download the package below. Install it after the standard Mobile Device Detector package to fix up the rules.

Nice one! For anyone who has the old Mobile Device Detector on a pre-7.1 instance, and is looking to upgrade to 7.1+, you can use the following step to ensure the rules are properly set in the upgrade. http://www.seanholmesby.com/a-fix-for-the-sitecore-7-1-upgrade-process/
